The Tornado Twister

I was so excited on Friday to check the mail and receive my copy of the pattern that I designed for Spud and Chloe. It is a multicolored, crocheted cowl.

This is the project that I blogged about a few months ago. I'm so happy that you now get to see what I was creating. Spud and Chloe have named it Tornado Twister. I love the name and how it turned out in print.

I received a copy of the pattern and the catalogue it's featured in.Obviously, I'm really excited. I love seeing my cowl being worn by a beautiful model:)

The new Fall 2012 Blue Sky Alpaca catalogue can be found here. There are so many great projects to see, mostly knitted, but a couple of crocheted items...the Tornado Twister being one of them.

Designing this cowl has been a fun experience and I hope Spud and Chloe/ Blue Sky Alpaca will allow me to design for them in the future. The yarn is pretty divine to work with. Here is the link to the post where I blogged about my experience with the yarn.

I hope you all had a great weekend...mine was relaxing...I'll blog about it in a few days. For now I'm going to enjoy my newly published pattern. Can you tell that I'm excited?:D

    1. Thank you:) I am...but not trying to get more right now. I wish I had time to design more. My job takes so much time. My personal projects are not even getting done. Oh well, that's life:)

  8. Congratulations, Liz! I am so happy for you! If I crocheted, I would love to make it. So, tell us how did you get Spud and Chloe to recognize your work, Liz? I love your Etsy stuff, but I have always wondered how designers get their patterns into the magazines and catalogs. Is it one of those things where you need to know someone who knows someone?

By the way, the cardigan on the facing page of your cowl just makes your cowl pop more. I love the cables on that sweater. It looks like it is called the Porch Swing Cardi. I am hoping that it will become available from somewhere. It is so simple and so beautiful. I sent you an e-mail the other day. I hope you got it. Please get in touch soon! It has been way too long since we talked.

    1. Thanks Linda,

I did not contact Spud and Chloe. They found me and emailed me and asked if I would design a cowl for them. I have never submitted patterns to anyone. I just don't have the time anymore to submit designs. It takes an enormous amount of time to design, make, and proof the patterns. I wish that I had the time, though, it sure it satisfying to see it in print.

The patterns and catalogue can be found on the Blue Sky Alpace and Spud and Chloe websites for purchase. Just click on the link above.

I did get the email...so sorry about my slackness:)

  9. OMG! You design patterns? I had no idea....no wonder I liked your projects! I love the tornado cowl, love Spud and Chloe and Blue Sky Alpacas. What a coincidence!!!! That pattern is going in my queue on Ravelry and I am a better crocheter than knitter. But right now I am knitting some dishtowels in BSA organic cotton and it is a dream to knit with! For years I only used acrylics...I didn't know any better but now I'm "enlightened" and although I'm spending more on my yarn, my enjoyment and the finished products are so much nicer. I might be turning into a yarn snob! LOL! Congratulations! I will be making that cowl for sure!

    1. Thanks so much, and I know what you mean about the acrylic and more luxurious yarn. I do use acrylic for the bright colors for children hats and ripple afghans...things like that. I guess there's a purpose for all types of yarn. I hope you love your cowl:)
